Severyn Khomych
Severyn is currently turning coffee into theorems at the University of Vienna, where he is pursuing his Bachelor's degree in Mathematics.
After almost a three-year-long collaboration with the Yulia's Dream program of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Prof. Oleksandr Tsymbaliuk and Prof. Darij Grinberg, Severyn co-authored three mathematical papers on Lie Theory, Quantum Groups, and algebraic combinatorics. The most recent paper has been accepted for publication in the great and mighty International Mathematics Research Notices (2025).
In the summer of 2024, Severyn was invited to partake in the advanced 3-week camp APEX MATH, taking classes in Topology and Number Theory from leading mathematicians in the field. He studied Linear Algebra and Representation Theory under the mentorship of Prof. Oleksandr Tsymbaliuk, which led to their research afterwards. Severyn was also in a group mentored by Prof. Andrei Ionov, studying Discrete mathematics, which led to research projects with Darij Grinberg.
As of 2025, his attention is drawn to the field of Biomathematics and the booming and fascinating field of Lie Theory and its applications with many inspirations for future research.
In April 2025, Severyn was selected for the IV-STEM Scholarship for High Potentials from Ukraine. And the following summer, he will let the high schoolers of Austria enjoy the process of bending robotics to their will.
