Mykhailo Barkulov
Mykhailo Barkulov was born in 2008 in Kharkiv. Currently he is a student at the Boiko School in the department “Boiko Super Math”.
Since childhood he has been participating in many olympiads and competitions. In the 8th grade he qualified for the four Selections for the All-Ukrainian Olympiad, in mathematics, informatics, chemistry and physics, but participated only in mathematics and informatics, focusing all his attention on the subject he preferred.
In 2022 during the Selections for the All-Ukrainian Math Olympiad he managed to take the lead after three rounds, but due to Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, he couldn’t take part in further stages. However, in 2022 he won first absolute place, and in 2023 second prize, participating as an 11th grade student, while he was in 10th grade. In 2023, he won third prize at the All-Ukrainian Informatics Olympiad. He also participated in the final stage of the school ICPC competition.
In 2023 he took part in the Yulias Dream program, which is part of MIT PRIMES, where he wrote a report on the topic “Coxeter groups”. In 2023/24 he participated in the CAPS olympiad and won third prize both times.
In 10th grade he took part in the Tournament of the Youth Mathematicians, where his team won second prize.
Mykhailo helps with the organization of various math competitions for the primary school students in Kharkiv, which encourages children to study and appreciate mathematics.
In his spare time, he enjoys playing chess and reading books. He is also fond of judo and has been practicing it for 8 years.
